Went for a spin on my Gixxer 1000 today. I live in Canada - but a part that has highly variable weather. There were icy spots and wet spots from melting ice and snow - but I managed just fine. It's rare for a Canadian to go for a motorcycle ride in February! Very rare.

I can hardly wait for my H2! I know we'll get more wicked winter blizzards but after riding today it almost feels like spring is approaching. It's still far off - but today's ride was sweet.

It's tricky. Gotta be on your toes. Watching for gravel too.

Anyway, it was a real treat to get out for a few km.

you're a brave soul!
i wouldn't bother trying to ride out during this time of the year out of fear of a few obvious things.
how cold was it that day you took your gixxer out?

I bet winter riding is going to be put to a stop in the north east with this blizzard that is happening right now.

Being like in that picture you posted, no doubt, even walking is a problem in those conditions, riding is far out of the question.

Never seen a motorcycle with the track on the back. I imagine that could be a lot of fun. Could be a fun experiment with an old bike.

We had a very warm couple of days. It was about +8C on the weekend. Record breaking warm temps.

I'm in Calgary where we get Chinook winds. They're warm dry winds - in the middle of winter.

It was so nice that on Monday I drove my Viper to work!

I might go for another ride tonight but I know that winter will be back soon. Snow is forecast for Friday.

Here's what I like about riding this time of year - it's slick. The grime, residue salt and moisture make everything slick. Even when it's dry, it's still slick. You can turn the rear tire easily but if you keep weight back you can still wheelie. When it's slick it's just like having more horsepower!

BTW, March is the snowiest month in Calgary.

So waiting for my bike isn't too much of a burden.

I just hate having to deal with the salt that gets put down, usually i like to wait till the streets have been cleaned of that or until they don't seem to be around any more.
