Went for a spin on my Gixxer 1000 today. I live in Canada - but a part that has highly variable weather. There were icy spots and wet spots from melting ice and snow - but I managed just fine. It's rare for a Canadian to go for a motorcycle ride in February! Very rare.

I can hardly wait for my H2! I know we'll get more wicked winter blizzards but after riding today it almost feels like spring is approaching. It's still far off - but today's ride was sweet.

It's tricky. Gotta be on your toes. Watching for gravel too.

Anyway, it was a real treat to get out for a few km.

Whereabouts in Canada are you? There have been a few warmer days in Toronto recently but its still been pretty cold. How cold was it when you went out riding?

We had a very warm couple of days. It was about +8C on the weekend. Record breaking warm temps.

I'm in Calgary where we get Chinook winds. They're warm dry winds - in the middle of winter.

It was so nice that on Monday I drove my Viper to work!

I might go for another ride tonight but I know that winter will be back soon. Snow is forecast for Friday.

Here's what I like about riding this time of year - it's slick. The grime, residue salt and moisture make everything slick. Even when it's dry, it's still slick. You can turn the rear tire easily but if you keep weight back you can still wheelie. When it's slick it's just like having more horsepower!

BTW, March is the snowiest month in Calgary.

So waiting for my bike isn't too much of a burden.
