Who buys a non-street legal mega bike?

Okay, so the 2015 Ninja H2R is an awesome bike. So awesome that it isn't even legal to ride on the road. That means that you can only drive it on a closed track, or use it as a piece of artwork in your garage. What type of person actually buys a really expensive bike like this that they can't even ride on the road?

I think that this bike is really to just get people to buy the toned down version that will be coming out later.

It is worth noting that in 1999 the Suzuki Hayabusa came out with a top speed of 200 mph. Since then companies like kawasaki, Yamaha and Ducati have limited top speeds and focused more on efficiency, handling and technology. But the Ninja H2 R is bucking that norm.

People like Jay Leno who can't ride for shi*, take it to the track, shi* themselves and park it in a huge garage. 5 years later they put it on an action, asking $80k and sell for $30k like the Desmo.
There are people... they are the same type of people who buy Superlegera's and Desmo RR's

Yes the H2R will pull by association...
if the ninja h2r was road legal then i would have sold yesterday the first one

and i would buyed one for ourselfs

but its not road legal so whe did not sold and bought one
i already asked if there was a possibility to get it road legal ...

still waiting for this information

if there is no posibility it will become 2 normal road h2
So I guess it for the type of people that have massive garages and a literal collection of cars and bikes. I imagine that anyone buying the Ninja H2 R already has a pretty sizable collection of other bikes that they can choose from on any given day.
Doubt you'll see a road legal "R". even if you could add lights, signals, mirror's, and such... It still has to be engine emissions tested.... and noise compliant. Which they wont do. and will it even have a proper VIN?

That's why they are selling the "non" R.
Hopefully it does get into the hands of someone that will put it to work rather than being a garage queen!

If you buy a bike like this, you should have a garage that can show it off properly.

Point taken. But you can only have it out on the track so often. There are only so many hours in the day. When its at home you don't want it hiding away in your garage. It should be displayed like a work of art.
