Ok...if you didn't buy a first new bike then what was your first bike?
This bike was the most thrilling moment at the time for me. The only thing I did to the bike was purchased a spare set of rims and had it powder coated in polished aluminum finish. This thing is still very powerful to me. I only put in less than 2000 miles so technically it's not even broken in yet. I still think it is one of the best looking bikes today. And yes, I still own it.
Not my first bike but at 18 years of age this was a hand full.It was my first new bike, previous i had a 750 water bottle and my first bike was a 450 honda twin.
my first bike was a Yamaha 350 two stroke.. but later I had a honer 750 saver then a GPS600 green ninja I loved that bike, sold her for a ZXR750 with the fault ram air through the tank.. she was modified and what a beast.. now I have 5 of which the beast is the H2 and love her
Looks like an 01. Had an 2000 for about 6months... Was keeping, maintaining and riding it while a buddy of my was in process of moving. It was a great bike.
My 1st new bike is the 2015 H2. I have owned a 01 zx6r (was stolen) and currently own a 02 zx9r and 08 GSX650F.
My bike is not '01, it is 2000. Ordered in late 1999 and received it April 2000. This is the only year where the speedo has an indicated 220 mph. Why did you only had yours for only 6 mos. I couldn't believe mine is almost 16 years old.
My first new bike was a 2003 Z1000. I fitted a set of Mivv pipes to it, that was an awesome sounding machine. The H2 is my second new bike.
My first bike was a Honda MB5. There have been about 40 other bikes between then and now... The shed currently has the H2, a W650, A K7 GSXR600, A '83 RG250, a MT50, a Z50 and a Yamagamma project bike...
What do you think of the MT-09? A mate at work is looking at possibly buying one but is concerned with the fuelling. Also, have you done any pillion riding at all?
First bike was a FS1E in 1980 then SR 250 , RD 250 LC ( all on L plates ) passed my test and brought a CBX 1000 the first of about 15 to 20 CBXs and still have two . First new bike was a 1998 R1 ,second new bike 2001 R1 third new bike 2015 H2

The picture of the SR 250 brings back memories for me , I brought one before my 17th birthday and almost polished it away as a sixteen year old boy ( in my head I was a bad*arse biker )
Impressive as your list is its crying out for a classic, be it Japanese from the 70s or 80s or even an old Triumph . Try one ,at first you will think it's a dangerous ,under braked ,rubber framed , pile of cr*ap with pen springs for forks but slowly like an older woman you will fall for her charms.
Started young with MotoX bikes.First road bike was a Yamaha TZR 250.Kept it for years.
First new bike was a 2001 GSX/R 600.8 years later bought a brand new 2010 ZX-10R,that I still have.
Then the king of all bikes 2015 Ninja H2.
Sheesh...all you guys with ALL your bikes over the years.
First one for me was a Yamaha 175.Fun little thing.Second,YEARS later...Harley Heritage Classic.Fun bike.(2000).Then a ZZR1200.Very nice riding machine.Next,zx12R...2004.AWESOME bike...loved that thing.Then a Harley ElectraGlideUltraCLassic..model year 95.Didn't like too much..sold it for a 2007 zx14.NOW I really started enjoying riding.Then upgraded to a 2012zx14r.That one got totalled.Replaced(insurance fully paid for it).They got me a Green 2013 zx14R w/abs.Still have it.And now?My lovely H2.
Kawasaki's just rock...they're the best!I should add...and I mean this...in all the Kawi's I had...NEVER did I have any quality issues.Put LOTS of miles on em all...never had any problems.Just reliable as can be.10K now on my H2...not one issue.
Very nice to hear and see what you guys have been riding and buying. If you guys could post pictures of your past or current bike(s) that would be great.
I got into bikes in late 70's after reading about Eddie Lawson and his racing career. Got hooked on Kawasaki since they always try to make a statement bike. Then, learned a lot about the Kawasaki 2-Stroke Triples (H2, H1, S1, S2, S3, KH series). My first bike was a used Kawasaki 74 F7-175 enduro when I was 16 and later upgraded to a 76 KH400 2-stroke tripe. I always wanted the red GPz (550, 750, 1100) but could never afford one at the time. I followed roadracing and always routing for Kawasaki to win. I really love to own the GPz1100 some day.
I now have a small collection of bikes, mostly Kawasaki 2-Stroke Triples. I actually drag raced the original H2 in the AMA Super Eliminator Class just for the experience for a couple of years in early 2000's. And now, the only reason I bought the H2R because it represents its predecessor H2 of being nasty, fast, loud and obnoxious. The original H2 was not an expensive bike and quality wasn't all that great, but the modern H2/H2R is the best that Kawasaki put in.
My first new purchase was my second bike, a '82 GPz550. I actually had a deposit down on a Honda CX500 Turbo but they kept pushing back the delivery date. I looked at the KZ1000R Eddie Lawson Replica but couldn't swing it financially so went with the very similar looking GPz. Seeing as I was only 20 with less than a year of riding experience and that I totaled the GPz three months later when I hit the classic Didn't-See-Me-Lefty-Turner it was probably a good thing I didn't get the KZ1000.
That was the first of 5 GPz550s I would own. In fact I have an '83 sitting in the garage right now that I rescued 10+ years ago and restored.
BTW I also bought an '01 ZX12R, the faster silver color Trying to defeat the 186mph limit of the ZX12R is how I got into ECU hacking.
As for pics of my early bikes there are not many. Back then our phones were screwed to the wall and didn't have cameras. These are the earliest I have from '83-84
Nice pics there! Post a pic of your '83 GPz when you get chance. The mechanic that prep my H2R was the owner of the KZ1000S1 (actual race bike just like the one Eddie Lawson raced) that sold on ebay for $107k a year ago or so. Wow!
