Good morning,
I currently own a 2018 R1M, I have just put a deposit down on a 2017 H2. Just stopping by to say hi, I’m going into this a little blind and with some trepidation as to whether I’m doing the right thing. I’ve only ever had out and out super sports starting with a gixxer 750, gixxer1000, BMW HP4, Yamaha R1M. I’m not sure how I will get on with the H2 and whether I will find it to heavy as I get used to it, understandably the dealers would only let me have a half hour ride.
I mostly do road riding but at a moderately enthusiastic pace😉. What do you guys think that have made similar transitions
I’m wondering if the previous owner also is on here the Reg is H20 FKD.
Oh and I’m based in the UK and ride mainly on A roads not straight lines.

I'm in Aussie Land so can't speak for the A roads in the UK, but I think you will find the H2 completely different to anything else you have ridden.

Yes it is a heavier bike than you previous bikes, but I find that bikes nowadays are fairly close in handling corners regardless of weight/size in this category. You will find it doesn't hold a line as well as your BMW or Yamaha did, but not by much. Really depends on your riding style/capabilities. There are a few blokes on here who regularly track ride the H2 and have sorted the suspension etc. out such that it holds its own on corners with other more nimble bikes. I am starting to do more track days on mine (got a 3 day track ride at Phillip Island booked for second week in December, and have done that track once before and once on the new "The Bend" track at Tailem Bend here in South Aust. couple of months ago). Not saying you have to do the track though!

Personally, I have found the H2 to be a joy to ride every time I'm on it. It is well made, and gives a level of performance you will not find on any other bike, currently.

Hi Chris

I am similar to yourself, but no doubt older:(, I have always rode and still do sports bikes, along with my H2 (2016 bike) I also have a 2004 ZX10R and 2005 ZX6R which is my track bike

To be honest, around twisty A and B roads and circuits I'd be quicker on the 6r, however, the H2 is not about that, its about a unique riding experience that will put a massive grin on your face


They are no lightweight S1000RR/R1/ZX10 but with a few tweaks they handle pretty well for a heavy bike

Many thanks guys for your honest replies I guess I’ll just have to see how it goes, fingers crossed as it’s a lot of money to be disappointed in the long run.

It's not like any other bike you've had.You'll find that out soon.I seriously doubt you'll be unhappy with it.It's not a gp bike.It's a road bike.It feels VERY different than your literbikes and such.It performs very different than you literbikes.I'ts a wonderful bike.It can lose some weight with some mods.Maybe consider ENZO'S offer here.."BST carbons for sale' for starters.That's a really good deal he's offering.If this new H2 doesn't thrill ya like no other around,I don't know what will.It's actually a dangerous machine in the wrong hands.

If I had the cash,I'd be buying Enzo's deal in a heartbeat.Stock weight is 525lbs.I did some changes to mine.She now weighs in at 485.Full fuel.That's not too bad.

My 'prior to buying' experience was Ninja 14's since 07.I bought my H2(2015)sight unseen except for internet sites where it was featured.So I really had ZERO expectations about it.Since nobody had one,there wasn't any feedback on it.Anywhere really.I just felt this was gonna be something extremely fun.When we uncrated it..my first thought with seeing just a bit of it as we were doing it was..'oh yeah,you did the right thing'.Have felt that way totally now since then.Every ride is new.It's ALWAYS different and exciting.Just the way it feels and runs.Hope you'll get to experience that feeling also.
I think the challenge and fun of it is that you really can't find this thing's limit(on the street anyway).That's how it is for me.There's something about it that creates a real respect for what it is.A kind of feeling like...'this will outride me no problem'.That's part of the fun factor.You can always challenge yourself on it.That's always there.And it doesn't disappoint.Totally the opposite.

I think it's a gorgeous bike.The lines and all are completely unique.The paint is fantastic.The ride quality is fantastic.I lowered mine in the front 1/2 inch and a 1/4 inch rear.I think it quickened things up a bit.Enough for me anyway.

Thank you guys some very reassuring comments, the one I’m buying has already had the standard can ditched in favour of a Yoshimura R-11 slip on, I’d like to decat it and get rid of the unsightly shiny box underneath however aftermarket options seem to be a bit scarce for the H2, where do you guys source aftermarket parts?
When purchased brand new does the H2 come with a special paddock stand?
So many questions I apologise, but as you guys have said it’s a unique machine that no other bike can prepare you for.
I will also be replacing the stock tyres for Bridgestone S22 or M7RR’s so I don’t have to put her away for the winter months, thoughts on those tyre choices?

A few tings to note

Make sure you get the Ninja H2 folder package with the bike

I use Kawasaki insurance, mine is pretty good (do have a tracker fitted)

If available, get all the standard parts with the bike

Thank you mate, do all model years come with the folder? Yep biketrac will be fitted. What’s your thoughts on a more autumn/winter tyre like the M7RR I don’t want it to be a garage queen that’s only ridden in the summer, because with my job I’d ride it about twice a year lol.

I can only presume all years come with the folder, be a bit naff if they didn't

Cant really say on autumn/winter tyres as I only tax mine for 6 months of the year, many folks do so should give you some ideas

I noticed on my Carol Nash insurance small print that it’s uninsured if not taxed ! I questioned this when I renewed it and they confirmed this . Check your small print if using Carol Nash or any other for that matter.

Can anyone confirm if the 2017 and later H2 came with the book or did Kawasaki stop the presentation pack on the later bikes ?

Presentation pack stopped after 2016 I think. Didn’t come with 2019.

Very similar to you, I have always had sports bikes, my last one was gen 3 s1000rr. I honestly never looked at the H2 until I rode my mates, but can agree with the other guys here that my grin went from one ear to the other, didn't give it back for a while!. It wont handle like a lighter sports bikes, but the way it makes you feel even just riding through town makes it all worth it!, oh yeah, be ready for a crowd of people around it if you go to a bike meet!!
I just purchased a late 2017 from Kawasaki, zero miles and unregistered. Not rode it yet as the weather here is so crap (sorry lads I'm a gremlin, don't like getting wet!) need to run her in first, then, like you will be looking to replace the extreme down pipes and cat.
Second hand parts are like gold dust, especially over here in the UK, and not many aftermarket part suppliers, popular exhaust parts need to be shipped over the water.
This is a great site, lots of guys giving great advice. Hope you get on with it, keep in touch.

TBH I’m glad the overweight, underpowered, oil leaking, piece of sh#te isn’t mine anymore
I wrote (then deleted) a whole rant about how disappointing the 2019 was compared to my 2016 but you boys and girls can make your own minds up.
To be fair the guy that bought it loves it and all the problems were sorted (ish) but, alas, it had to go.
& no Rob, I’m not being bitter!

"Kawasaki prestige model and they save a few Yen that way"...actually no.They saved nothing.They added several nice expensive items to em;)I would like to have the imu on my 2015 for sure.
I'm wondering if the tft display could be fitted and if the ECU could be flashed or updated to use that function along with the unit and parts.
