I have no idea why the bike is for sale - but I'll guess.
Calgary is oil country. We have a solid resource and we work hard to develop that resource. The result of our hard work is success. We have good incomes and a high standard of living.
When the price of oil dropped it made a notable difference here. The mood really changed last December - but we were still working hard and we were still getting good results.
In the Spring we had a provincial election and a very, very socialist, pro-union, anti capitalist, anti business government won the day. They spend like crazy and tax success like crazy - already 25% increase in income tax, a doubling of the carbon tax and a 20% increase in corporate taxes, a huge increase in minimum wage - all in the first couple of months. We've never had a government like this before. It's almost completely shut down our dominant industry. We're only finishing up last years work. It's bad here. I personally have only had 1 day of work since the election over 3 months ago.
So, that's what I think happened. Someone bought the bike just before the price of oil dropped and our new government killed any hope for recovery.
Mines not for sale. Yet.
It's bad here right now.
