It's quite beautiful.
FIM did run an eRoad-Race series which only lasted one year because exactly no body cared.Makes me wonder if there will be a turn towards using more electric bikes in open racing. I know that certain race car series have really embraced electric/hybrid technology.
Embracing hybrid tech also creates a barrier to entry for many brands who have no hybrid tech foundation. So it is a bit of a battle between the bigger brands and the smaller ones right now.FIM did run an eRoad-Race series which only lasted one year because exactly no body cared.
Car series have embraced it to further an agenda. Mercedes said they will leave F1 if it moves away from hybrid power becuase it furthers a branding agenda for them. There are no such constraints on motorcycle racing (AND THANK GOD...)
Thats bad logic, because its not technology that creates a barrier, its dollars, and regardless the format the smaller brands have less dollars and less incentive to race...Embracing hybrid tech also creates a barrier to entry for many brands who have no hybrid tech foundation. I'm not sure I really see your point. Yes, its money in the sense that it costs money to develop the technology. What I'm saying is that many brands have already sunk a lot of money into combustion technology and not much into hybrid, so starting from almost scratch for them would be a pretty big set back. even if they can afford it.Thats bad logic, because its not technology that creates a barrier, its dollars, and regardless the format the smaller brands have less dollars and less incentive to race...
