An engine like that doesn't make power right off idle. A lot more slipping of the clutch needed to be in order. I remember seeing one of these many years ago at a show and the owner started it for me. It idled somewhere between 3k and 4k rpm. Watch MotoGP and listen to those guys leave the pits. They don't slip the piss out of the clutch for show! They have to! And the Desmosedici RR is the closest us mere mortals will come to a GP machine for a while!
