Looking for recommendations on track tires

I want to start looking ahead for the next set of tires I'll be swapping to. After two track days I'm thinking I'll probably be able to get at least one more track day in on my OEM tires.

What would you guys recommend going to? I only ride in the rain if I get caught in it. If the forecast calls for rain I usually commute to work by car. While I want a tire with some really great grip I don't want to run slicks and be in trouble if a drizzle comes down.

Just came back from track day, ran Pirelli diablo super corsa's, rear 28 psi hot, front 30 psi hot after coming off warmers.
They stick well on the street as well, went with a 190 versus 200 width on the rear. For the street, I use 32 psi rear, 34 psi front.

They are not cheap, but you can't afford to be slipping and sliding on them. I only ride in the rain if caught.

Pirelli SC V2 are really great for both the track and the street but I can burn a set out in a good two day track weekend. For the track only I now run Pirelli Super Bike Pro slicks and they are great. So far they have lasted 4 track days and still look great. I think I can get another 4 to 6 days on them before they are junk....

Some guys pick up the racers used slicks for cheap and get a few track days out of them. Great as long as they don't get greasy and you go down.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't slicks only get a couple heat cycles? That's why you put them on the warmers then ride then back on warmers with no cool down. I thought what made them so durable was what made them vulnerable to the heat cycle issue. I just remember speaking with someone who was fast enough for them but stuck with top line track day tires to avoid the warmer

No, today slicks are much better, the average TD has 6 to 7 sessions and your tires are on warmers between each session. If the tire lasts 5 TD's that's 30 - 35 heat cycles, usually no problem, storage and non-use is another problem, they dry out, if possible store them in plastic bags and near room temps when not in use. I use warmers on my street tires as well. My slicks are old and am getting new TD street tires instead for the BMW. Whether you use slicks or street tires for TD's, it doesn't matter, when they start to slide, lose grip it is time to change them, or back off the pace until you can change them.
