sounds good.I think you'll have no more issues with oil in the filter.Mine hasn't accumulated any oil in the filter intake or anything since i've had it.I always keep it in the center of the sightglass.2015.And i've taken her up many times at full throttle and kept it there for at least a half mile.I have the sprint po8.But with the stock filter,it still remained dry in there.Yeah.A teensy bit of oil residue in the endpipe before the filter.But she certainly wasn't 'blowing oil'.Never any at the catch tube.I also have a filter with a red medium in it.Supposed to be cleanable...but it has to be reoiled everytime.I don't use that one anymore.
"it appears to be “designed” into the bike."..IMO,no.It probably shouldn't be allowing oil to enter the combustion chamber.(the design).I think it's just people running high revs and putting too much in there,even if they're stopping at the upper mark.It says as you know...'between'.That COULD mean anywhere in between.But my first thought when I read the manuals(14's and the rest)I took it as in the middle.Could be wrong.Mine's fine 'in the middle'.You're not adding oil when she's on the rear stand are you?That'll definitely throw off the oil amount in there.
I remember now i actually did add too much...just at the top line one time(standing vertically).When i took her out,the shifting wasn't smooth like before.I drained some out,shifting went back to being smooth.
