I donít know if itís anything to do with Euro4 emissions (Euro5 is Jan 1st 2020 but I guess California even worse?) but my dealer said the UK stopped offering the FOC Arka (yes, itís not pretty but itís better when itís FOC) because of emissions.

In the UK we now get a £999 performance voucher with the bike because absolutely no one will accept that ďdesigned by a 5 year oldĒ exhaust muffler this side of the pond!

I guess the cost is already built into the inflated prices we pay over here but at least we get something back and can junk the muffler immediately

That looks completely standard, why on earth didnít Kawasaki do this?

Unless itís something to do with the emissions as per my previous post. I would expect the muffler does nothing regarding this, gas from the cat onwards doesnít change much?

Suzuki use a huge muffler too, is there a reason guys?

Thanks All, It should.
I can't tell you how many times I had to take the lower shield on and off to get it to line up with the one on the Muffler. On the positive side I got the Muffler new for Under $150 delivered and it's pretty much a bolt on if you don't mess with getting the Shields to line up as I did. Now that it is done I am happy with the way it turned out. If I could have found a system that would have looked right and just bolted on I would have bought it.
If anyone is interested in giving it a go I can let you know where I source the Muffler. As far as performance goes that muffler is superior in every way. Its basically a glass pack yet the doesn't increase the exhaust noise very much. Its definitely much lighter and doesn't block the view of the wheel and the swingarm.

You know. I have wondered the same thing myself. They already had that muffler and its a much better fit for the bike. I think your right, it must be something to do with emissions. I'm guessing here, but possible they needed to slow down and control the rate at which the exhaust flowed through the Cat? The ZX-10 muffler is nowhere near as restrictive and would not accomplish that. I would love to know the answer.

2019 has the same muffler with more HP. It's personal preference as to the looks. The European emission standards are pretty tough, KHI don't put a heavy muffler on with such big internal space for no reason.

I'm sure that true.
So you like the look of stock muffler?
