Comment from the rider on FB :

Yep, it's moved the bike on a little bit. The electronics are better for fast riding, as is the shock. Had a good day today with some decent time on the road and some speed testing at Bruntingthorpe

actually we discussed the '17 upgrades on the forum back in early Nov.
key points were the H2 will have the zx-10 ECU that was developed in WSB, much better electronics with an much improved TC including Lean Angle Management (this is HUGE), and Auto Blip (clutchless downshifting), and a new & improved Ohlins shock. Kawi's test rider told me it was a huge improvement from '16. I almost pulled the trigger and traded in, but I've just dumped about $20k into my '16 so.. gonna wait a few years before the trade in.

2016 Ninja H2 ľAkropovic Exhaust .. Stage III gears .. Extreme Creations intercooler .. H2R Fuel Pump .. DynoJet PCV .. DNA race filter .. FlashTune .. DynoTuned .. BST wheels .. Yosh fender eliminator.. Brembo full-floating disc rotors .. Brembo RC19 master cylinder .. SBS Racing brake pads .. Lightech gas cap ... ABS delete + custom brake lines

When Kawi makes a factory intercooler I'll trade mine in. :-)

Seems to be that most of the 2017's improvements are in the handling department, so for any land-speed racers there's little to be gained.

To quote MCN

"It's still the worlds most exciting road bike"

Nothing new there then
