Post Ninja H2, Liveries and Lights!

MCN will be running that cover when their latest edition hits mail boxes tomorrow. Of course its 'just' a render, but there are important questions that it does bring up.

First, liveries. The White and Candy Green combo seen on the MCN cover clearly apes the new 30th anniversary schemes Kawasaki is currently offering on the ZX-10R and ZX-6R. Now theres no question that the H2 is the cherry on top of the Ninja's birthday celebrations, but will Kawasaki offer H2 in the special edition livery? Aside from the ZX-14 the entire ZX line is only offered in black finish, which would jive with the black mirror chrome bike we saw at Intermot. White and Candy Green and/or Mirror Black finish, plausible?

Second, the lights. Notice the three small LED's inserted into the air intakes. Again, we don't know if any of this has a scrap of legitimacy but it is difficult to imagine where exactly Kawasaki is going to put the headlamps if not there.

Third, the fairing. Without the winglets offering increased cooling/airflow the render seems to offer a redesigned fairing geared towards street use.

Lastly, 200 bhp and 20K. This I think is bunk, the S1000RR comes in at a fraction of the price with a similar power figure. So either Kawasaki will come down a bit on pricing or go up a bit on H2. I'm betting on HP, they're not about to make all this fuss about the H2 and then allow it to be out gunned in house by the ZX-14R...

Why is there a profanity censor? This kind of stuff gets under my skin. **** **** **** ass. All are a part of the English language. Give me a break.

I could not agree more car-abuser, all of this hoopla and hype, it better be a lot more than that. A whopping 200hp puts it no further ahead than any of the top level competition -- nothing trend setting there. A price tag of $30k puts it in driect competition with the higher end Duc's -- and people only buy those because they're Duc's. Nobody is paying $30k for a Kaw.

This is exactly what I keep telling people.
People that are willing to spend $30k on a bike, aren't buying a Kawi. It's just the way it is.
Just look at Nissan GTR actual sales figures to prove my point. If people are willing to pay $100k+, they are NOT buying a NISSAN.

I don't mind if it only has 200hp......if 50hp+ is only a simple mod away.

I don't mind 200hp if it's tunable, I agree -- but as I've said previously, voiding the warranty on a first gen anything makes me nervous, and tuning will most likely do that. It just needs to have a reasonable price tag. What do you think your max price would be? For me, even $20k is pushing it, especially when I can get a lightly used, nicely modded S1000rr for $13k that already breaks 200hp on proven tech.

Could not agree more on the GT-R. I don't know if I said this before when you brought it up, but I'm one of the people that would have bought one for a daily driver if it was reasonably priced. They're still too expensive, although the used ones have come down quite a lot. But buying a used GT-R, you can be sure it's been flogged and launched plenty of times. Buying a new transmission or getting it rebuilt would seriously add to the buying cost. We also agree that if I'm paying $100k+ for a car, rest assured it will not be a Nissan.

Rubbish... I bought a brand new GTR in 2010 and have absolutely no regrets.

I could have afforded the more expensive exotics but the GTR outperforms them... I don't let my ego make my buying decisions, value for the dollar does.

Thats foolish, people will buy a $30K kawasaki if it kicks the piss out of everything on the market, much like the GTR kicks the piss out of cars 2X the price.

Thats the reason people buy GTR's and thats the reason people will buy the H2.

I can only speak for myself, but ego has nothing to do with my not buying a GT-R, nor does it have anything to do with why I drive what I do now (the dent I have yet to fix and the fact that I rarely wash it are testament to that fact, hah). It's just not worth the price for a daily driver, to me. If I frequented a track, that may be a different story.

I'm sure there are people that would buy an H2 for $30k+, but to me (and I suspect the majority that would otherwise be interested) it's not worth it. Not when more power can be had for less. Bear in mind we're not talking about frame geometry revelations here, the H2's big draw is the OEM forced induction and not much else. If the H2 out of the gate has no more horsepower (or marginally more) than existing platforms for 50% higher MSRP, what kind of sense does that make? That's really what I'm trying to get across. What are you getting for that extra $10-15k that can't be had elsewhere for less? Even a brand new HP4 is only around $20k.

How much did you pay for your GTR that was selling for $70k brand new in 2009?
People that are dumb enough to pay $110k for a $70k car make me wonder how they acquired $100k in the first place.
